Improving Mental Health Care Through Collaboration
Improving Outcomes, One Partnership at a Time
New research highlights how partnerships and continuous improvement can expand access and improve outcomes for children and families.
What Quality Improvement Means for Children’s Mental Health
At NewPath Child & Family Solutions, we know that strong partnerships lead to better outcomes for children and families. That’s why we’re excited to share findings from a recent study published in Psychological Services that highlights how collaboration and continuous quality improvement can strengthen mental health services.
What the Research Found
The study, Quality Improvement in a Regional Learning Network: A Case Study on Optimizing Mental Health Services, examined a partnership between a pediatric academic medical center and a community mental health organization. Together, they implemented strategies designed to improve the quality and efficiency of care, including:
- Clinician training in evidence-based and measurement-based care
- Ongoing expert consultation and support
- Use of outcome surveys to track client progress
- Initiatives to reduce provider burnout
- Increased caregiver involvement in treatment
Better Care for Children Starts with Working Together
These findings reinforce the importance of investing in quality improvement, professional development, and community partnerships. As demand for children’s mental health services continues to grow, collaborative approaches can help expand access to high-quality care while supporting the professionals who provide it.
At NewPath, we are committed to these same principles by delivering compassionate, trauma-informed services that help children, adolescents, and families thrive.
The collaboration led to several positive outcomes:
- Increased clinician confidence and effectiveness
- Greater use of evidence-based practices
- Improved caregiver engagement and satisfaction
- Shorter treatment durations
- Reduced provider turnover
