Turning Awareness Into Action for Youth Mental Health
NewPath Child & Family Solutions joined a recent Local 12 Kids and Mental Health Town Hall with other regional mental health leaders to discuss the importance of supporting children and teens facing mental health challenges. The special program highlighted local resources available to families and emphasized the critical role early intervention plays in helping young people thrive.
Representing NewPath, Sarah Hughes, Director of Community-Based Programs, shared how NewPath’s Day Treatment Program provides students in grades K-12 with integrated educational and therapeutic support when a traditional school environment may not meet their needs. The discussion reinforced the importance of ensuring young people have access to compassionate, trauma-informed care and the tools they need to build resilience and succeed.
“So we have a day treatment program, which is essentially a K through 12 school. That really helps those that aren’t able to maintain in a typical school setting; they get those therapeutic services within their school day while also trying to support those educational needs,” said Sarah Hughes.
