Our goal is to help youth become adults who can contribute to society and meet life situations adequately and in a personally satisfying way. Foster youth are often left on their own at age 18 with no support or direction in life. Supportive independent living gives youth the opportunity to practice life skills with backup support such as guidance, emotional support, and financial assistance.
ILS program personnel provide supportive services to help youth meet their physical, emotional, and educational needs. We utilize the Transition to Independence Process Model, an evidence-based best practice, reality-based approach guided by current research and focused on behavioral change for youth through a multidisciplinary team. Youth and their Support Team members provide input to develop Individualized and strength-based Service Plans. ILS encourages youth to make informed decisions and ensures they have the opportunity to be involved in decisions that impact their future and the services they receive.
Our Independent Living program places youth in individual apartments at a clustered site, with the case manager (transition facilitator) office located on-site. This office also serves as a Life Skills Center and has a Life Coach available seven days a week.
Our Independent Living Services (ILS) program serves youth ages 16-21 near our Anderson location.
