NewPath Child & Family Solutions offers education for boys and girls in Kindergarten – 12th grade with a full-scale IQ of 50 and above at our school, NewPath Academy. The youth in this program may or may not have a documented mental health diagnosis and/or specific learning disabilities but are experiencing severe behavioral problems that are negatively impacting their ability to function in a typical school setting. We also specialize in students who may be struggling with social skills in the general education setting.
This program provides a highly structured educational setting with a certified special education teacher and one behavior support specialist in both self-contained and rotating classroom settings. Each student receives individualized and group instruction techniques that will help him or her experience full academic, social, and emotional potential. NewPath’s Education Teams specialize in creating, utilizing, and implementing Individual Education Plans. Our clinical team excels in creating therapeutic environments while building social/emotional skills.
The program’s goal is to empower the youth to learn and exhibit appropriate behaviors so they can return to the regular school setting. Daily classroom activities include appropriate anger management, positive social behavior, and life skills. The behavior management aspect of our education programs includes a systematic structure of goals, point systems, and individual contracting. Emphasis is placed on learning new and positive methods of problem-solving and teaching clients to take responsibility for their actions.
Special Education Students:
Facing cognitive challenges, IQ between 50-75.
General Education Students:
Working to improve disruptive behaviors and IQ within normal range.
Both self-contained and rotating class settings are offered based on students’ individual strengths and abilities. High school students have the opportunity to earn core content course credits, as well as elective courses, through a modified curriculum. Our schools provide the education component for youth attending our Day Treatment programs. Our school culture relies on the use of the Positive Behavior Support Model, with an emphasis on proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create a positive and safe learning environment.
Our teachers take greater pride in providing a structured, educational, and therapeutic environment where your children feel safe and loved. We work hard every day to ensure that your child reaches their maximum potential in the classroom and in the community. We strive to build confidence and strength in all academic areas, as well as develop/strengthen social skills.
