A Message from NewPath’s Chief Impact Officer

As the past year has come to a close, we reflect and excitedly look forward to the year ahead.

Thank you to all of our donors, volunteers, and NewPath supporters for helping us change the lives of the youth in our community.

  • 2023 Gala: 239 attendees, raised $105,412
  • 2023 Cincinnati Gives Challenge: $52,538 total funds raised, placed third overall, and won 2 bonus prizes
  • 2023 Holiday Wish Program: more than 50 groups and individuals donated a surplus of 3600 items (an estimated value of $75,525), which will be used to provide comfort to NewPath youth year-round

Even with all the success of 2023, there’s more work to be done as our clients and their families start on their healing journeys with us. We invite you to continue to help us Ignite Hope and Change Futures.

Supporter Spotlights

Individual Giving Spotlight – Tim & Cathy McMahon

Tim and Cathy McMahon have supported NewPath together since 2018. However, Cathy has a long history with our organization (what was then St. Joseph Orphanage) that goes back to her childhood. Each Spring, Cathy‘s parents participated in the former program of hosting children for the weekend. Inspired by her parents, seven-year-old Cathy opened a lemonade stand during the summer to raise money for then St. Joe‘s. After sending the donation, she received a beautifully written letter thanking her for the funds and expressing the impact she made. Tim and Cathy went on to foster three youth into adulthood. After his passing, Cathy also learned that her father and his siblings were nearly placed with former SJO when his mother passed. All of her life experiences, as well as the story from her father, instilled a passion for providing solutions to children and teens in foster care and those recovering from trauma.

Impactful Corporate Partnerships – SAF Holland Inc.

SAF Holland has partnered with NewPath since 2021 through in-kind donation drives, monetary investment, and volunteerism. Their employees have made fun memories for NewPath youth by playing games, hosting holiday parties, and completing crafts. For many NewPath youth, the act of people showing up for them and the knowledge that someone cares can be enough to start the healing process.

“We believe that our largest impact on those around us comes from us showing that we care about them. Items and food are always great donations, but to spend quality time with those we serve and make memories together through volunteering by playing games, having parties, and crafts offers the largest impact.“ – Debbie Picchione, Human Resource Manager-SAF Holland Inc., Cincinnati & Phoenix Divison

Changing Futures

Experiential Learning: Life Skills Challenge Day

NewPath‘s Experiential Learning program hosted a Life Skills Challenge Day at our East Campus for youth enrolled in Residential, TIP, select Elementary classrooms, and High School Day Programs. This workshop consisted of 13 stations that taught different practical life skills such as sewing a button, cooking an egg, making a budget, and more. Thanks to the help of internal and external volunteers, our youth not only learned new skills that will help them lead successful future lives, but they also had fun while doing it!

The goal of experiential learning is to learn by doing. It increases positive transitions for students in educational achievement and mental health stability. Academically, students achieve improved attendance and grades. Mentally, students display an improved use of regulatory skills. This results in a decreased need for intensive mental health services.

Louie the Lion

NewPath’s Cuddliest Team Member

Meet Louie the Lion, NewPath’s newest and cuddliest team member. He might seem like just a little stuffed lion, but he has BIG responsibilities. For many, the lion symbolizes bravery and strength. For enrolled NewPath youth, Louie also represents HOPE. NewPath is a positive source of renewal, where children and families turn to recover and rebuild strength in the aftermath of traumatic situations.
