The Positive Impact of Ohio Medicaid
Supporting NewPath Youth and the Community
NewPath is dedicated to providing essential behavioral health services and foster care to the youth of our community. For many of our clients, access to this support is only possible through Ohio Medicaid.
Supporting NewPath Youth and the Community
At NewPath Child & Family Solutions, we are dedicated to providing essential behavioral health services and foster care support to the youth in our community. Nearly 89% of NewPath’s clients rely on Ohio Medicaid to receive the care and support they need to thrive.
Behavioral Health Services
Ohio Medicaid is the state’s largest payer for mental health services, covering a wide range of treatments, including therapy, medications, and crisis intervention. Access to these services is life-changing for NewPath youth and their families. Medicaid funding allows us to offer comprehensive behavioral health care, which is essential for managing conditions such as anxiety, depression, and trauma-related disorders.
Many families would struggle to afford these critical services without Medicaid. This funding ensures that children from low-income families receive consistent and effective treatment, helping them lead healthier, more stable lives. NewPath’s services are vital, given that untreated mental health issues can lead to long-term consequences such as reduced quality of life, productivity losses, and involvement with the criminal justice system.
Foster Care Support
In addition to behavioral health services, Ohio Medicaid provides vital support for children in foster care. This includes medical assistance for adopted individuals or foster care assistance under Title IV-E of the Social Security Act. This coverage ensures that foster children have access to necessary medical and mental health services, which are crucial for their well-being and development.
Foster children often face unique challenges, including the need for specialized medical care and mental health support. Medicaid helps bridge the gap, providing foster youth with resources to overcome challenges and build a brighter future. By supporting foster care providers and ensuring that foster children receive comprehensive care, Medicaid plays a pivotal role in the stability and success of our foster care system.
Building a Stronger Community
Ohio Medicaid’s impact extends beyond individual children and families. By supporting behavioral health services and foster care, Medicaid helps build a stronger, healthier community. When children receive the care they need, they are more likely to succeed in school, form positive relationships, and contribute meaningfully to society.
At NewPath Child & Family Solutions, we see firsthand the positive outcomes that Medicaid support can bring. We are proud to advocate for this essential program and its continued funding, as it is a lifeline for many youth and families we serve.
With Ohio Medicaid’s support, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of our community’s most vulnerable members. Let’s work together to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive.
Make a Difference. Act Now!
The recent House budget resolution directs the Energy & Commerce Committee to find $880 billion in savings for an upcoming legislative package. Since this committee oversees Medicaid, this could potentially be devastating for access to mental health and substance use care. Over 72 million US citizens rely on Medicaid for coverage, including 2 in 5 people with a mental illness or substance use challenge and 1 in 10 veterans. Significant cuts to the program’s funding would result in millions losing coverage and access to lifesaving care.
We encourage you to contact your elected officials and urge them to oppose any significant cuts to Medicaid. Your voice matters, and together, we can make a difference. Act now to protect access to quality, life-saving mental health and substance use care.
