Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr. Foundation Awards Grant

Improving Independent Living Services Apartments

Apartment renovations and safety upgrades to NewPath’s Independent Living Services were funded by a grant from the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr. Foundation.

The Haile Foundation is Igniting Hope and Changing Futures

NewPath Child & Family Solutions recently received a grant of $24 thousand from The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr. Foundation. This $24 thousand investment will be put toward needed renovations and safety upgrades for NewPath’s newly acquired Independent Living Services (ILS) community-based apartments. The ILS program aims to help youth become adults who can contribute to society and meet life situations adequately and in a personally satisfying way. Where youth would otherwise be left entirely on their own at age 18, supportive independent living allows them to practice life skills and provide backup supports such as guidance, emotional support, and financial assistance.

The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr. Foundation

Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr. Foundation is an independent family foundation dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents in our region. We concentrate our efforts and resources in areas about which Carol and Ralph were most passionate: Arts and Culture, Civic and Community Development, Education, and Human Services. In collaboration with our region’s stakeholders, we help lead the way to a strong and vibrant community across ten counties in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. NewPath’s Independent Living Services (ILS) Program

ILS program personnel provide supportive services to help youth meet their physical, emotional, and educational needs. We utilize the Transition to Independence Process Model, an evidenced-based best practice, reality-based approach guided by current research and focused on behavioral change for youth through a multi-disciplinary team. Service Plans, developed with input from youth and other Support Team members, are individualized and strength-based. ILS encourages informed decision-making by youth and ensures they have the opportunity to be involved in decisions that impact their future and the services they receive.

Youth in our Independent Living program are placed in individual apartments at a clustered site with the case manager (transition facilitator) office located on-site. This office also serves as a Life Skills Center and has a Life Coach available seven days a week.

the ils program allows access to:

  • Case Management services, including emergency after-hours response
  • Therapy
  • Medication Management
  • Proximity to and availability of Transition Facilitator (case manager) outside of scheduled appointment times
  • Life Skills groups, twice weekly, utilizing the Daniel Memorial Independent Living Curriculum
  • Access to the Life Skills Center supervised by a Life Skills Coach daily
  • Life Skills Center with computer and internet access for youth, a meeting area, and a working kitchen
  • Availability of a Life Skills Coach for support, teaching, and consultation
