A Message from NewPath’s Chief Impact Officer

Spring is a time of growth and new beginnings. This is especially true for the youth in our services, many of whom are starting a new life full of healing and change. It is because of unwavering support from generous donors like you that we can help them on their new path.

For me, this time of year becomes busy with my children’s sports schedules. Every day, it seems we are on a basketball court or at a baseball field. Just last weekend, my busy sports schedule collided with my work life. My daughter was waiting to start her AAU Travel Basketball game at a large complex up north, so we stood to watch a boy’s team to pass the time.

One of the team’s players caught my eye. Out of context, I knew I recognized him from somewhere. As time passed, I realized he was a student in our Day Program. I was immediately filled with joy.

I was happy to see one of our students who has experienced some significant life challenges playing on an AAU Travel Basketball team, interacting with other youth his age, and simply enjoying the game. This is credited to the work our team does day in and day out to equip our youth with the life skills needed to navigate everyday life. The transformational work NewPath does provides a sense of normalcy for youth whom many have never experienced.

In closing, thank you for being a part of our journey as we continue to provide therapeutic excellence for those in need to Ignite Hope and Change Futures.

Supporter Spotlights

Empowering Donor Spotlight – Dustin Ellison

Dustin‘s journey with NewPath began by simply touring our West Campus based on the recommendation of a current NewPath Board member. Not knowing what to expect when he walked through NewPath‘s doors, he immediately felt an empowered desire to do more. Dustin joined our young professionals or LEAD Board and is one of our most active members. However, Dustin still wanted to do more, so he began volunteering and working directly with the youth we support.

“After only a few days of getting to know some of the kids along with the administration, I couldn’t stop thinking about the great work done at NewPath. I’m so glad to be part of such an impactful organization and am looking forward to a great year ahead!” – Dustin Ellison, NewPath LEAD Board

Impactful Corporate Partnerships – Duke Energy

Duke Energy recently provided Easter holiday fun to the youth enrolled in our services at our West Campus location. They donated Easter-themed goodie bags and hosted a holiday party. The party consisted of activity stations like creating crafts and an egg hunt. Collaborating with NewPath is especially meaningful to one of the Duke Energy volunteers, Michelle Basch, whose brother was adopted from NewPath (then St. Joseph’s Orphanage).

“Being able to spend time with them [NewPath youth] and bring a smile to their faces was so rewarding. NewPath is a wonderful organization making a huge impact on the community, and we were happy to share in that experience. We are looking forward to participating in more events in the future.” – Michelle Basch, Consumer Affairs Manager, Duke Energy

Client Story

Working Hard to Overcome Obstacles

Maya* was a high school honor student who started working with NewPath’s My First Place program after her grades started slipping. She began experiencing obstacles, including transportation issues, developing negative relationships, and becoming overwhelmed with stress and unplanned pregnancy. With the support of NewPath’s team of specialists and advocates, Maya graduated high school with honors, had a healthy baby, repaired her relationships, and attended Christ School of Nursing to provide a brighter future for herself and her child.

Resource Center

Year-Round Opportuinities

The Resource Center at NewPath is available to all staff with client contact, providing much-needed supplies to enhance their wellness goals and their clients’ well-being. Working in partnership with the community’s support, we currently are in need of Summer clothing such as t-shirts, shorts, and swim trunks (all sizes), beach towels, and outdoor play items like basketballs, footballs, hula hoops, jump ropes, and frisbees.

Louie the Lion

NewPath’s Cuddliest Team Member

Meet Louie the Lion, NewPath’s newest and cuddliest team member. He might seem like just a little stuffed lion, but he has BIG responsibilities. For many, the lion symbolizes bravery and strength. For enrolled NewPath youth, Louie also represents HOPE. NewPath is a positive source of renewal, where children and families turn to recover and rebuild strength in the aftermath of traumatic situations.
