Help children who have experienced trauma cope and feel safe by create a “calming box”
August 6, 2015
Many of the children at St. Joseph Orphanage have sadly experienced trauma, abuse or neglect, so we strive to create an environment that is soothing and safe.
When the children return to school on August 17, we hope to have enough supplies for each of them to create a “calming box”. The students create the boxes by decorating them using craft items, pictures, glue or modge-podge. Then they fill them will things that help them cope and make them feel safe and loved.
To help a child, please consider donating items to decorate and fill the calming boxes such as, stress balls, therapy clay, Lego’s, and any fidget therapy toys, glue and art supplies!
To donate, please call 513-741-5690 x2353, visit www.sjokids.org or send donations to St. Joseph Orphanage, 5400 Edalbert Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45239.
