NewPath Unveils Residential Expansion to Meet Growing Needs

CINCINNATI, Ohio (SEPTEMBER 12, 2025)—NewPath Child & Family Solutions hosted a groundbreaking ceremony at its East Campus, located at 274 Sutton Road in Cincinnati, to announce the expansion of its Residential Interventions Services.

“Expanding our Residential Interventions program reflects NewPath’s commitment to providing safe, secure, and trauma-responsive care for children in need,” said Eric Cummins, CEO of NewPath. “We believe every child deserves a healing environment that supports their journey toward stability and hope.”

NewPath’s Residential Interventions program is a comprehensive, trauma-informed mental health program designed for youth who have experienced significant childhood trauma. The program emphasizes emotional well-being, social development, and safety, offering intensive care 24/7, year-round. A multidisciplinary clinical team delivers services within a structured daily routine rooted in trauma-informed care principles.

Youth referred to the program often struggle to regulate behaviors in a traditional home setting and, on average, have experienced eight prior home placements. Many face severe depression, suicidal ideation, and other complex mental and behavioral health challenges.

“The demand for youth mental and behavioral health services continues to rise across our region,” said Tricia Mullins, Chief Operations & Impact Officer at NewPath. “Since 2020, referrals to our Residential Interventions program have surged from nearly 230 to 949 annually. It’s critical that we respond to this growing need and meet youth where they are.”

Expansion Highlights:
  • Addition of 16 beds through renovation and a new 1,850-square-foot building
  • Conversion of an unfinished basement into a therapeutic gathering space, complete with a restroom and sensory room, through a large renovation project

The average length of stay in NewPath’s Residential program is 101 days. The expansion includes the creation of a sixth residential unit at the East Campus, directly addressing the rising demand for placements. Across Ohio, over 100 essential beds have been lost due to program closures by local organizations, making this expansion especially vital for our community.

“To support the increasing regional demand, we’re expanding our Residential Interventions footprint by 30%,” added Mullins. “By converting an existing administrative building into a sixth unit and adding 16 beds, we’re enhancing access to our state-of-the-art facilities for youth in need of intensive care.”
