2022 Heart & Hope Gala Awards

Recipient Announcement

NewPath presented its second annual Heart & Hope Awards and first annual Spark Award at the 2022 Heart & Hope Gala! This event recognized the volunteers, donors, and employees who go above and beyond to care for the clients we serve.

NewPath Child & Family Solutions (formerly St. Joseph Orphanage) hosted our 2022 Heart & Hope Gala – Be the Spark on Thursday, September 29. The event featured cocktails, appetizers, dinner, and the presentation of NewPath’s first annual Heart, Hope, and Spark Awards! These awards recognize the volunteers, donors, and employees who go above and beyond to care for the children and families we support.

“IGNITED BY HOPE, BE THE SPARK THAT CATCHES FIRE TO HEAL THE HEARTS OF CHILDREN.”

2022 Heart Award – Susan Vonderhaar

The Heart Award is presented to a member of the “behind-the-scenes” staff. Many of the children and families we support may never interact with these individuals. However, their passion and administrative support are truly at the heart of our organization.

Susan Vonderhaar

Accounting Manager

Susan’s attitude and willingness to go above and beyond is an excellent example for all of us who find a place to fit in and serve kids. It can be tough sometimes to continue to link working on a computer and pushing paper around to helping serve kids. Still, without dedicated staff like Susan, none of the feet on the street work gets done. She has admirably and very effectively linked those two things, and I hope she is incredibly proud of helping to serve the thousands and thousands of kids and families these past 28 yrs. She is well deserving of this award, and we wish her the best in retirement! – John Colegrove, CFO

2022 Hope Award – Regina Woodson

The Hope Award is presented to a direct-care team member that truly ignites hope. Providing results from expert, specialized, and comprehensive trauma-informed care. These passionate individuals dedicate themselves to an industry that is challenging but meaningful.

Regina Woodson

Family Nurse Practitioner

Not only has Regina been recognized by her colleagues for her work, but the children and families she serves have also expressed their gratitude. It is not uncommon for us to receive positive feedback on satisfaction surveys, specifically naming Regina. Her co-workers gain inspiration from watching her in action as well. So tonight, we honor Regina Woodson, CNP, for what she gives every day and the difference that she makes in the lives of others. Thank you for your years of service and your compassionate spirit. – Dr. Joe Rieman, CMO

2022 Spark Award – Bill & Caren Laverty

NewPath’s mission is “Igniting Hope. Changing Futures.” But the hope we provide begins with a spark. That spark comes from the continuous investment of you, NewPath’s supporters. NewPath uses that spark to ignite hope in the hearts of children. One day that spark transforms into a flame of change.

The Spark Award is presented to supporters that go above and beyond to invest in and grow NewPath’s mission. These dedicated volunteers, donors, and contributors truly help those that help others.

Bill & Caren Laverty

NewPath Supporters

Bill & Caren Laverty have been gracious volunteers and generous donors of NewPath since 2014. Often you would find them in the thick of cleaning apartments, coaching life skills, or simply just showing up to be consistent support of youth transitioning into adulthood out of foster care enrolled in our Independent Living Services program. In 2018, Bill & Caren opened their hearts further by establishing the Laverty Scholarship fund. Thank you for all the work you have done and continue to do! – John Parran, COO
