CINCINNATI —
Recent rainfall is causing rivers to swell, and the threat continues into the week.

A flood warning is in effect until Friday morning.

Typical flooding spots are already seeing problems, and more rain is on deck this week, meaning it’s only going to get worse.

Cincinnati police said that they expect several road closures as the river rises, especially on Kellogg Avenue and Ohio 32 in Anderson Township, and advised east side drivers to expect delays on their commutes and to not drive through standing water.

The Ohio River at Cincinnati reached the flood stage, 52 feet, Sunday evening.

Kellogg Avenue near Coney Island was closed Sunday, covered in flood water. Belterra Park Gaming is closed until waters on Kellogg Avenue recede, owners said. The Coney Island pool was filled to the brim Sunday.

Ohio 32 under the Beechmont Avenue overpass is also closed.

In Newport, Hooters and the Beer Sellar had to close as high water blocked their entrances. And down the street in Bellevue, the beach park had nearly drowned.

The Hamilton County Great Parks have announced closures and detours, as well:

Lawrenceburg Road is closed at the “Lost Bridge” due to flooding. To access Shawnee Lookout Park, visitors will need to use Miamiview Road to Lawrenceburg Road or Brower Road to Lawrenceburg Road.

The Steamboat Bend boat ramp at Woodland Mound is closed due to high water.
Otto Armleder Memorial Park is closed due to flooding. This includes the Dog Park and the Lunken Connector Trail.
Cincinnati police warned that several major roads could close in the next 12 to 48 hours, and encouraged people to check Twitter for updates.

Rain moves back in during the Monday morning commute, and there’s a chance for rain every day this week.

WLWT’s Allison Rogers said nearly 2 inches of rain could fall by the end of the week.
